American Truck Parking Research

American Truck ParkingTM is a federally funded research-deployment project implemented by the University of California, Berkeley and Caltrans.  The goal of the project is to improve the availability and dissemination of truck parking information to truck drivers, the trucking industry, and the general public.

American Truck ParkingTM is designed to provide information on truck parking locations including truck stops, public rest areas, diesel fueling locations, and alternative fuel stations that are specifically designed for trucks.  At a select number of locations, American Truck Parking also serves as a demonstration project for delivering dynamic truck parking availability information to truck drivers.

We hope that you find American Truck ParkingTM to be useful.  As you revisit the site, you will see the network of locations expand to include additional facilities and states as we build our database of truck parking.    All of our sites providing dynamic truck parking availability information are research sites.  This means that we are learning how to collect better data and derive better estimates and forecasts of truck parking in the future.

The dynamic data you see here may not always be correct, but we do work to recalibrate and reset counts on a regular basis to ensure that our information is as accurate as possible.  As technology and our analytics improve with experience, we hope that American Truck ParkingTM can provide more and more reliable information and methods for advancing truck parking availability for the trucking industry.
